A Judicial Magistrate is under control of the Sessions Judge and is subordinate to the Chief Judicial Magistrate. The First Class Magistrate determines criminal cases that are culpable with confinement for a period not exceeding three years, or with fine not fewer than five thousand rupees. In some cases, both kind of punishment can be enforced.
